Pro Tips PRO TIPS
Once all pulp included in the Paper Maker Kit has been used, replace with shredded, unused, plain toilet paper, as it has the texture most like the pulp that is included with this Paper Maker Kit. For further creativity and exploration, different sorts of paper can be experimented with and recycled. Please note: construction paper is too thick and may not produce satisfactory results. Enjoy making your own custom paper!

Not only did it provide hours of fun for us but it also is able to be saved and used again when you either A. Make paper pulp out of recycled papers or B. Buy more paper pulp ! I love the creative it produces and my kids were pretty stoked to find it as a joint gift under the Christmas tree! Its super easy to use and set up and the kids love getting creative making paper that they can use for other crafts or writing !

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun, but takes some practice I loved making paper as a kid, and thought this would be a great kit to share that fun with my son. He loves making the paper, but this definitely has some learning curve to it. When packing the pulp into the cup, if you pack it down too much, it will be too much for the machine. We almost broke it trying to get the paper pressed, and had very thick paper as a result. The next time, we did less, and had the same issue. I wound up scooping out a lot of the mixture, spreading it around and trying again. Much better result. So I'd say put in just enough to spread out and cover the screen. Overall, this is a fun kit with a fun result. Our favorite thing to create are bookmarks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kids love it! I have 2 Granddaughters who love making crafts. When I saw this I knew they would love it. It was so easy for them to do on their own. They just measured out the pulp added water stirred and then added the color they wanted the paper to be. Then they just spread it out evenly with a spatula. For a custom design, they added random drops of color right out of the bottles onto the pulp. Then you have to roll it then lift the tray out and wait for it to dry. After it dries they have so much fun decorating them. Very well made and easy to use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fun activity, but doesn't make usable paper My kids and I had fun with this kit, and we may still be able to make it work better than our first few attempts. Here is a summary of the pros and cons: Pros: -All components are sturdy and easy to clean -Includes a good amount of pulp so you can make quite a bit of paper -Kid-friendly activity, with adult supervision Cons: -Press isn't strong enough to make paper thin (we ended up with thick, almost cardboard texture "paper"). -Using the oven dry method, it took 3+ hrs at 200 degrees to dry the paper fully. I'm sure it would have taken at least 24 hrs. if air drying. -My kids wanted to use their paper to make cards, which didn't end up being possible. The paper dried too curved and too stiff to be usable. We will try this again, using significantly less pulp than the 250mL recommended in the instructions. Perhaps we will have better luck with less pulp. As a craft activity, it was fun, but less than successful. I'm still hopeful but I'm not sure this kit will produce useful paper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We had so much fun doing this together I was so excited to receive this! I had my twin Granddaughters over here during an online school adventure, we finished the classroom work and then decided to make paper, their eyes lit up. It was a little like herding cats, but that is life with 7 year olds. The product instructions were very easy to follow, and the end results were very good. It was a great project, when it dries we will play some more and maybe make mom and dad some special Christmas cards

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great time passer I had no idea what it would take to make paper but my daughter and I were working on a study of nature and found this craft set and thought it would be great to try and it was!!! The products are all nicely labeled and the instructions are so easy to follow my 8 year old was able to do most of it independently! The only part that was a little hard was the actually rolling out the paper but other than that this set is fabulous! We loved being able to make different colored papers! A great fun and learning craft! Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of fun This paper maker kit was a big hit at our home. Not only did the kids have a good time but the adults were still talking about it the next day too! This was great because each piece is designed each time. Each one is different and yet all made from the same materials. The colors were nice and vibrant and the kit was easy to maneuver through. We loved that it comes with plenty of pulp and color and the screens added a cool aspect to making their own paper projects!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super fun and easy to use. The Crayola Paper Maker is a really cool hands on fun project. It's super easy to use. The directions are really easy to follow. It is labelled for 8+. I made paper with my almost five year old. He only needed a little bit of help. Turning the handle was where he had trouble. I did that part. I do think the handle is a little flimsy. I wish they just did the plastic a little thicker on it. I feel like it could easily snap. We did the oven method for drying the paper. We did have to dry it for a bit longer then indicated, but we do live in a humid area. I was curious about working a little outside the regular projects and I added some flowers. It turned out very nice. The maker has everything you need for 20 sheets of 5” x 8” paper. The paper is pretty thick, so I might play around with that a little and see if less works just as good. It comes with the ink. They have a fair amount of oil in primary colors, so that is helpful for getting all those fun color mixes. Overall, it's a really awesome hands on fun machine and craft.

Where can you buy more pulp or what can you use instead?

Asked by: Science teacher
Denny's got your "paper" back! When you need more pulp for the Crayola Paper Maker, my pack suggests any of the following to keep the creative fun going. Hope this helps! - Shredded, unused, plain toilet paper works best, as it has the texture most like the pulp that is included with this kit. - Experiment using paper pulp, paper mache (found at many craft stores), printer paper, notebook paper, or paper towels. You’ll need to shred, wet, press, and dry the paper. With help from an adult, try using a blender to make the wetted shreds into a finer pulp to create your own custom paper. Remember, not all paper is created alike! Construction Paper is too thick and not recommended.

I was wondering why only two screens are included in the Paper Making Kit? The paper needs to dry with one of the screens, so you are unable to start working on another sheet until first one is dry. This really stopped the fun:-(
