They break!
After less then 2 months of not regular use, the coloured lead has fallen out of several of the colours. I'm not sure whether we have bought a defective pack but the leads seem to not be stuck properly into the device that twists the lead up and down. Very disappointed as I thought these would save the hassle of the pencil sharpener...

Great for Mandala Coloring Books and easy to color
I purchase these to use for the Mandala Coloring Books, and I love them. I like the fact that no sharpener is needed and all the colors are bright. I had fun using them, I wish the color would be a bit more saturated. Great idea Crayola.

All Looks
The Twistables are so pretty to look at; they are bright and colorful and the design on the pencils is eye-catching. It makes you WANT to have a set of these beautiful pencils. And it seems like the idea of a twistable color pencil could work. But, I hate to say, using these pencils is an unpredictable and sometimes disappointing experience. The pencil sticks break inside of the barrels into tiny pieces and then bunch up toward the bottom when you twist them. There is no way to get any of the pieces to make their way through the hole to the point once that happens, so your pencil is DONE after that. You cannot use them. You will also want to exercise caution and not leave them in a hot car. Overall, I still think they could be a great product, just maybe a few more trials by going back to the drawing board and solving some design/engineering issues.

These are not good for adult coloring
I thought these would be a nice way to get into small spaces. The core of the pencil is to large to get into smalls spaces.
The color is not on the pencil, and the color of the pencil DOES NOT match the inside color. I made a color patch page, but I had to scribble on a spare page to try to figure out which color it was.
You need to apply a heavy pressure to get solid color. The texture does not glide easily.
For Kids maybe, but the tips are flat, and without the ability to sharpen them, they are not good for even minor detail.

Plastic and no refills
My daughter got this as a gift and frankly, I hate them. The leads break, the colors are not bright and the amount of waste that these things produce is outrageous. Crayola says proudly how they are Eco by recycling and making their products in a "more environmentally responsible way". But this product is the complete opposite. Once the lead breaks or is used up to its 90%, the whole container is waste!

So-so
I like the idea, but each time I put pressure to have a brighter/fuller color, the lead screws back up.... I used to have these when I was younger and I thought Crayola would have corrected this issue. Not all colors have this defect, but I could easily say 50% of the colors do.

Love the Twistable colored pencils.
I have been using the twistable pencils and crayons for years. I use them for adult coloring books. The crayons are good for large spaces and the pencils for small spaces. You don’t have to tear or sharpen them. When you use the pencils for shading, the coloring looks like stain glass. Yes, if you press to hard the pencils can brake. Maybe the twistables are more for adults than young children. Please Crayola, don’t stop making them. The Twistables give me hours of enjoyment.

Poor design
There is a fundamental design flaw and I don't how Crayola haven't seen it (unless they are designed to break so that you have to repurchase). The core in the middle breaks (as they do when dropped by a young child etc) and they are rendered useless - the broken bit slides out and the remaining bit is not long enough to reach the tip. Very poor design, very frustrating as a parent. And more plastic waste in our children's world.

Not made for young children
I wanted to like this product. My one year old likes to eat regular crayons, so I thought this would be a great replacement. On the other hand my two year old was obsessed with twisting it to high and they’d just break. I was bummed to find out how little product you get in this crayon and you can’t buy replacement for it. Plus you’re not able to use the whole stick, so that’s a bit annoying.

Terrible
Bought these for my daughter for Christmas. They don't stay up while coloring. A complete waste of money as they are unusable. I'm very disappointed in this product. I've always loved Crayola products but these are terrible!

Amazing!
I have had these forever and they are the whole part of my early childhood. I just found them in my basement and I was so happy to see them! they are such a great idea because the other led on colored pencils just breaks in a pencil bag. the led does break though. that is the only thing I don't like. so does all coloring thing though.

Great until the lead breaks
The twistables are a great idea until the lead breaks inside the barrel and then it stops working. All the broken lead bunches by by the tip and does come out making the pencil now useless.

Too Thin
I bought these for my students thinking they would be easier to sanitize during covid. The inside of the pencil is too thin and breaks frequently. Also, the inside will fall out and will not be useable after that. Pretty upset with this purchase will only buy the twistable crayons from now on.

My set is not as good as I have heard it would be
Some of them work fine but then some don’t hold the lead right so when you go to color the lead pushes back up into the holder. In a brand new set, I have had throw some away.

I had bought a smaller pack. The residents love them. Makes them feel better than using crayons. Very smooth and beautiful colors.

Love these but…
Love these however I do wish that it had the color of the pencil written on the pencil and not just a color guide on the box.

Disappointed
There are no bold colors. Would love a real red, e.g.
Also, some so- called different shades of a color are the same.

Can you provide me with a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for the Crayola Twistable Colored Pencils?
Hi Chandra,
Denny has the details! You'll find the MSDS library for all Crayola products here: https://bit.ly/crayolamsds . Search for the product number or name to get the results you need. Hope this helps!

Can anyone tell me which one mahogany? I agree the names need to be printed on the tube.
Denny to the rescue! So my pals on the Colorful Care Team can help, please contact us at 1-800-CRAYOLA. Hope to get you back to coloring soon!

Are these eraseable?
Let me get straight to the point! This set of Crayola Twistables Colored Pencils are not erasable. If you are looking for a colorful do-over option, you'll want to check for the 12-count set of Crayola Erasable Twistables Colored Pencils. Hope this helps!

Do these tell you which color you are using on the pencil? My boys are Color blind to red/green and certain shades.
Denny, here! Twistables Colored Pencils do not have their color names printed on the packaging. I'd suggest checking out our traditional Colored Pencils, which do have the names labeled.
Date published: 2021-04-06
Are twistable pencils colorfast and washable? Does seeing the color twitter heat or ironing?
I have checked with my pack, and found that Twistables Colored Pencils do contain colorants which may stain. Although your masterpiece will last for years to come, the color pigments contained in most Crayola products are not permanent and will fade over time when exposed to strong light. If you should need any further assistance, our Colorful Care Team is here to help at 1-800-CRAYOLA- tell them Denny sent you!
