Rated 3 out of 5 by from Air dry clay seems dried out I received my order very quick! When I opened the air dry clay it seemed very stiff and lumpy-not the same as when I used this same brand last year. I have not opened all the buckets so I am hoping the rest will be in better condition

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ruined the last memories of my dog I purchased a 5lb bucket of clay to make a paw print for my terminally ill dog. The night before she was put to sleep, I made a clay print of my hand with her paw inside of it. I loved it! However, when the clay dried, it broke in pieces (see pics). The only print of dog's paw is destroyed and she is gone. I am so sad I could cry. I thought I could rely on Crayola but I was wrong. They made a difficult situtation worse. I should have read the reviews before I put all of my trust into this company. Now I have no way to honor my first (and likely only) dog.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cracks all over I bought this product in order to make a Volcano and when it had dried, the clay cracked into pieces. I would advise against the purchasing of the low quality bucket of dried out garbage.

Can I paint this clay when dry? Can I put a gloss spray over it after painting?

Asked by: Cathi
Denny's got ya covered! Thoroughly dry pieces may be painted with tempera, acrylic or watercolor. You may wish to create a test piece and experiment with different types of varnishes or fixatives. Since Crayola products are not archival quality, we have not performed testing on sealing and preservation techniques. Air-Dry can be sealed once your piece is completely dry after 72 hours. Once dry, we suggest using an acrylic varnish. Make sure to test its compatibility with the varnish before applying it to a finished piece Sealed pieces are not waterproof, so we recommend displaying them indoors Hope this helps!

Is this product gluten free

Asked by: Sean1988
Denny knows! At this time, Crayola Dough*, Glitter Dots, and Easy Peel Crayon Pencils are manufactured with wheat (flour) as an ingredient and therefore are not considered gluten-free. All other Crayola products, including Silly Putty, do not contain wheat or other grains known to be a source of gluten. Multiple Crayola products are produced in the same manufacturing facilities and on the same machinery. While there is a slight chance of cross-contamination, the machinery used to manufacture Crayola products is cleaned between production runs in a manner that meets or exceeds all regulations. Hope this helps! *Some Crayola dough products manufactured by our partner A1 Toys are gluten-free, while others are not. Please read the packaging carefully to determine if the dough is gluten-free.

Will this clay stick to a surface like cardboard, or a canvas? I want My students to make and paint a topographical landscape model. But I don’t want all the sculptures to fall off the foundation. Will I need to use glue?

Hey! I bought this a bit ago and now that i think of it, it dries quite slowly compared to polymer or other clays, i was wondering if we can bake this clay? If not, why?

Asked by: JohnDoe
I'm happy to explain! Air-Dry Clay is a natural, white earth clay which air-dries to a hard solid. Use it to make clay sculptures, decorative items or plaques. No baking or firing needed. Dry time on the clay varies depending on the size of the piece and the humidity of the environment. Most pieces will be safe to handle carefully within a day, but should be allowed to dry at least 24-48 hours before painting or sealing. Actual time to completely dry may take several weeks, and the clay becomes stronger with time. Since the clay will dry on its own, do not fire it in an oven or kiln, as it will cause adverse effects to your creation. If our Colorful Care Team can be of further assistance, please contact us at 1-800-CRAYOLA. Enjoy sculpting your masterpieces!

I have sculpted a wolf with this clay. I have attempted to add more clay after it has dried. It has cracked around the edges of the newer clay. Can I use water to smooth it out?

Asked by: Foxglove
Hi there! Friends call me Denny and I'd like to help mend your wolf sculpture. Although we can't guarantee the results, place a few drops of water on the areas that are cracking to smooth them out. Or even place a pinch of wet clay and squish it in the cracks and smooth it with your finger. If you have any other questions about the Crayola Air-Dry Clay, please reach out to the Colorful Care Team at 1-800-CRAYOLA. Tell them Denny sent you!
