Concentration Required
Overall, my son enjoyed playing with the Wixels Animals Activity Kit. He loved using the color guide to dot the Wixel grid. Once that part was done, it was a little tedious to fill in all the little blocks. A few times, he accidentally got black on the lighter color blocks. Although we followed the fix an "Oops" instructions, not all of the black came out which was a little frustrating. Overall, a great activity for kiddos to build concentration and fine motor skills.

Kept my daughter's attention
I needed my children to be entertained for a solid half an hour. I gave them this project. My daughter, 6, was able to complete it and said it was fun. My son, 5, struggled with it. The age is 6+, so I'd say that's accurate. They really are washable, so that is great that it's not a once and done thing. My son said he wanted to just color the dots, he struggled keeping the template down. I think this product is great for a creative little artist!

Perfect and Takes Time
This product is great for kiddos who need something that takes a little longer to do. This definitely is not a 15 minute project. It takes time to put all of the dots on using the stencils and then time to get the ink to be soaked up in each square. We found that rolling the marker on its side along a row of the same color did cut down on the time it took. We think it's really cool that this is washable and that we can use it more than one time!

Cute Activity and Washable!
This activity was super fun and cute for my 5 and 7 year olds. It is definitely not a 5 minute activity. They've been working on them for a couple of days on and off which is really cool! I love how they don't get bored with it and they are looking forward to the end result. I love the idea of them being washable so they can start over too! The stencil for it is easy to read and understand too!

Cool concept, could be even better
My kids enjoyed playing with the Wixels kit. The 11, 8, and 4-year-old all found it absorbing and entertaining. There is definitely something satisfying about working on it. There are a couple of pretty big downsides, though. The product is really small. We expected it to be more or less the size of a piece of notebook paper, but it was less than half that size (see attached picture with my hand for scale). It would have been fun to have a bigger space to work with. Also, the replay value isn't great. Once you have made one Wixel picture, your options are to either keep and display it or rinse and reuse it. But if you want to reuse it, it's not just a simple rinse. It has to soak overnight. At first I thought this would be great for road trips, but not so if it has to be soaked for several hours each time too want to reuse it.
There's a good concept here for sure, it just needs some tweaks.

Fun little craft for the Picasso in your life
The Crayola Wixels Animal Activity Kit is great for kids who love to sit and color/draw/craft. It’s a complete kit, so no extra purchases are necessary. It’s washable so you can rinse & repeat as much as you want. Personally my child couldn’t sit long enough to complete the kit, so I would say it’s geared more towards children who will take the time to sit and color/draw/craft.

Fun activity but difficult to clean
My 3 year old LOVED identifying and matching the colors and did awesome with it! I know it is meant for older children but it’s right at his skill level! He only needed assistance holding the te plate still. Overall it’s a cute project but it takes a lot of pressure to saturate the wixels and then requires a LOT of time cleaning it under running water per the directions.

Interesting concept, ok to play with
Received in exchange for an honest review.
Good concept, generally worked as expected. Child was interested in utilizing the design templates, but needed coaching through how Crayola actually wants you to play with the product. Not a travel item, for sure. It got messy with each square that got saturated in ink. I was pleasantly surprised that the squares were washable and reusable.
Pros
- comes with templates
- reusable ‘canvas’
- all colors used in templates are included
- ultra-washable markers
Cons
- takes a long time to complete and most of it used without template
- when soaking each square, colors come out uneven, often overly saturated
- using the side of marker for saturating squares often bleeds into adjacent square
- only 2 templates included. Which is fine since 2 ‘canvases’ included, but doesn’t encourage re-use of canvas
Overall not something I would choose to buy. But it’s probably very interesting for others.

Cool coloring option
This was fun to use but did take time. It’s a nice alternative to color by numbers especially because you can wash and reuse it. It’s also nice that they give you 2 options to leave from and then you can make your own.
It just takes some time to get the entire tile to soak up the color. All in all this was fun to do!

Wixels Animals Activity Kit
This product brought a lot of excitement to see their work turn into an animal! Unfortunately, what seemed like a product that would entertain became difficult to hold together. The top frame continued to lift from the bottom piece. I ended up putting tape along the back of the top piece to keep the two connected.

We liked the wixel kit
Overall, we liked the wixel kit. I love that it can be washed and used again. Only suggestion would be to have more contrasting colors for the animals. The dog with the black and blue the colors were so close they are hard to differentiate. I would also recommend a tiny clip to keep the stencil on the board

Really cool but limiting
This is really neat especially if you have a kid that is into Minecraft. Or possibly other pixelated games. Otherwise, it’s very limiting and frustrating and they are very likely to switch to paper. It is cool that it is washable. The quality is great and it’s durable.

Fun Animal Coloring Set
Great activity set. My 5yo enjoyed the unique marker set. She really loved the challenge in following the guide and then the reveal: the finished product that looks really great. Best part, it’s washable. We would recommend this to any young child who loves art!

Perfect for a 6 year-old
This was just right for my 6 year-old granddaughter who sometimes has the attention span of a gnat! She liked using the color guide, but really enjoyed making her own pictures using both boards together. Gonna have to try other sets and make a huge picture!

Great for older children and adults!
My 12 year old nephew enjoyed the wixels. I as an adult enjoyed the wixels as well. In my opinion, the age recommendation of 6+ is a little young for the amount of concentration and time it takes to complete. Overall, we really enjoyed the product.

Cute activity for a child with patience
This is a super cute market activity. It is reminiscent of paint by number, however it uses a color template. The boxes that are to be colored are extremely tiny and are made of a similar material to Scribble Scrubbies. My son (5.5 years old) was able to follow my direction as to how to place the template on top of the blank palate and, after watching the quick YouTube video as to how to use the markers, he followed it exactly. The markers that come with the kit are the regular sized markers. You are supposed to push the marker onto the small box for the ink to bleed through. As I made an attempt, I counted the seconds it took for the marker to fully enrobe the small white box. It took 12 seconds. That’s a pretty long time especially for children with a low tolerance for patience. In the photo of the completed monkey picture, we simply colored the top of each square without holding the marker on to bleed through. Same results and much quicker. The great part is that the board can be washed and reused over and over. This is a really cute activity and did keep my child busy for about 30 minutes or so.

Unique concept requires patience
This is a very unique concept that my child was excited to try out. However, he lost interest shortly due to the time required and some execution problems. As for me as a parent, it was a little messy and I could see it being a frustrating activity for kids as young as six, requiring both patience and dexterity. Even when using the templates provided, only a small dot appears on the squares and you have to go back in without the template to apply pressure (and time!) to fully saturate each square and form the picture.
Pros:
- Reusable canvases that wash and dry easily
- Cute templates to get started
- Markers included
- Unique concept, and I think children would enjoy creating their own pictures
Cons
- Takes a great deal of time, patience, and coordination.
- Because of the suggested method to saturate the squares with the side of the marker, it’s very easy for the color to bleed into adjacent squares that are very small and very close together.
- Requires a decent amount of pressure to get even saturation; seems like thicker markers may not be the best utensil for this project.
- Canvases and squares are very small.
- Templates move around and don’t stay anchored easily.
